Social Scientist (1983) holds a master degree (1998) and a PhD (2007) in Energy Planning and the Environment by the Graduate Programs of Engineering (COPPE) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She is currently a senior researcher at the Center for Integrated Studies on Climate Change and the Environment - centro Clima / COPPE / UFRJ. She has been working mainly on the following topics: sustainable development, climate change, energy planning and environmental planning. She is one of the authors of the Economics of Adaptation, chapter 17 of the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from UFRJ (1980), M.Sc. (2007), Doctorate (2013) and currently Post-Doctoral (2016) in Energy Planning, with emphasis on Environmental Planning, by PPE / COPPE / UFRJ. Develops studies and research projects (since 2005) in the area of Sustainability of Biofuels, Smallholders Family, Adaptation and Mitigation of Climate Change, Strategic Environmental Assessment and Transport (CentroClima / LIMA / PPE / COPPE / UFRJ). At the same time, has been working for more than 20 years in the Third Sector, currently as a volunteer, director and technical responsible for socio-environmental projects in Água Doce-Serviços Populares, in Petrópolis and Baixada Fluminense (RJ). Worked for 11 years in Hydropower Plant Project Consulting, with emphasis on hydromechanical equipment, cargo handling and auxiliary systems.
Degree in Ecology at Biology Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1989), Master degree in Biological Sciences (Zoology) at National Museum/UFRJ (1995), specialization in Environmental Engineering at Engineering School/UFRJ (1995), and Doctorate degree in Geography at Geosciences Institute/UFRJ (2004). Researcher and technical coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Environmental Sciences Laboratory of the Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Postgraduate Studies and Research in Engineering (LIMA/COPPE/UFRJ), where is engaged in projects concerning Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), with emphasis on ecosystems dynamic and biodiversity, climate change adaptation in cities, and bird strike prevention at airports.
